Wanted: Input for real business idea. (No, it’s not an MLS or work from home scam!)?
…OK, I’m all ears for constructive ideas from you super creative (MBA’s, think outside the box, etc.) business folks. This is the real deal so here we go…

I work for a huge business information (data) company. Without going into boring detail, the company photographs 200,000+ properties (homes/houses) each month all around the US. Once the properties are photographed, they are archived but never again used because they’ve already served their purpose. These photographs are NOT art-quality, but they’re extremely functional and are meant to document condition, etc. of the property. Make sense?
Who can think of a market that would like to use historical photos by a 3rd party that are date-stamped?
(Insert Jeopardy theme song here…)

How can I sell my homemade candy/cookie bouquets to the public here at home?
I’m making these at home and really need to get this business going. Don’t have any money to advertise so word of mouth is going to be my only option at this point. I know there are others on the market, but I’m doing the candies myself instead of buying them already made.

Can I make money by providing storage space in my home without a lot of time or traffic?
I’ve got about 1200 feet of protected storage space in my walk-out basement and would be willing to do some sort of storage/fulfillment arrangement for a business or businesses, but I also work full-time and don’t have any time to do product marketing or sales. Are there small businesses that could use a service like this and if so, how would I go about finding them? (I live in Vermont.) Thanks!

My home in Tucson has been listed over one month. A business friend suggested the market here might improve in over a year so why not rent it? There are over 8K listings in the Tucson and they are still building. We were hit hard by investors whom homes not lay vacant with some shingles up for over 7 months. I want to move back to Virginia this year. I have a first and second. I could refinance and pull some cash to consolidate and move. However I have been told it is harder to sell a rental than owner occupied when that time comes…I would hire a property manager. How would I do a comparison financially..my husband doesn’t think it would be worth it as a writeoff unless we could affort to buy on the other end? Any info would be appreciated.

Best path for a software engineering degree with interest in business?
Filed Under Financial Services | 3 Comments
I have a Software engineering degree, with no interest in writing software. I come from a background with a family business (back home) and fairly interested in working in the business side of technology. I want to settle here, and probably pursue an MBA later in my career. Currently I am working as a marketing analyst, doesnt pay too well, but atleast I am not writing software.
The problem is that I am bored with marketing analysis and purchasing keywords and generating campaigns. I feel that this is not the best field for me. With 6 month experience at hand, I would like to move on into project management and/or business analysis.
My question is what should be the best path? Should I increase my level of knowledge for those fields or should I shoot for an entry-level position? I want a job where I am contributing to the main stream business and not like being an analyst for a firm whose core competency is not marketing and perhaps never will be marketing.
Thanks

How Easy is it to get a Business start up loan?
Filed Under 872 | Comments Off
I am looking to start my own small business. The business will be curchasing computer equipment and reselling parts and refurbished products.
I have 3+ years experience, and about $20K of my own money, and good credit. I also own my home, but with the housing market in a slump I may owe more on it than it is worth at the moment.
I would need an additional $50K-100K to start up.
With the economy the way it is, what are the chances I will get the kind of loan I need to get this business off the ground?
